Facebook has sold a 1.6% claim ot Microsoft. For the privilege Microsoft has paid the sum of 240 million dollars. While that alone is impressive, whats more important here is that Microsoft beat its arch nemesis to the punch. Google is also interested in acquiring a piece of the Facebook pie.

Why?

Simple. Facebook has 50 million active users, and Google makes its money primarily in advertisements. For example, last fiscal year Microsoft made 1.84 billion dollars, and while thats a huge jump up for Microsoft, up 21% to be exact, Google made more than 13 billion. Now it seems that Microsoft wants to get a jump on some things. I can help but wonder if we will see MySpace type of technology entering into Facebook, I wonder is a huge merger between the social networks will occur.

The second largest ice sheet on Earth is melting. Researchers attribute its melting to the global warming crisis. It appears to be motionless from the air, but beneath the surface the sheet is constantly moving, and fragmenting into glaciers, and in warm months those glaciers will melt into the ocean.

Scientists fear that this will raise the ocean level significantly, and this would put low lying cities t risk of floods. Cities in danger would be cities like New York City, and Shanghai, China.

The ocean is expected to rise 1.5 feet by 2100.

I just saw on the news, there was a parrot who rescued his owner and the owners son. When a fire started in their Muncie, Indiana home the parrot, Peanut, was imitating the noise the fire alarm makes. This screaming like a fire alarm woke his owner and the boy. An earthquake rocked western Indonesia sending people running in a panic.

The earthquake hit at 7.1 on land, causing the earth to split in places.  The quake originated 18 miles under the ocean and authorities were concerned it would cause a tsunami. No tsunami formed and the warning of the wave was canceled.
