post Car Lift

Filed under: Style — Tom @ 2:13 am

I seen some awesome accessories for the garage lately. With winter on the way I will be spending more time in the garage as opposed to outdoors. And so, I am planning to spruce up the garage, i have been looking at getting a car lift to give me more space for winter projects.

I may se the extra space to bring in an old 1968 Camaro and get it restored, maybe go red with it, and of course, lots of chrome on it. A custom paint job would be so awesome, but perhaps beyond my reach this year. The extra space is something i have been wanting for a while and it is high time i acted on it.

post Getting Married?

This is my favorite wedding dress. I like it because it would make any lady feel like a real princess. It reminds me of something you would see in a movie about the pretty princesses.

It comes in a couple of colors, including the colors of ivory and white. It is available in a variety of sizes ranging from 1 all the way up to 30.

I love how the dress flows, trails far and behind the woman, to me, it screams elegance. Its easy to see why I enjoy the dress, its so storybook. The cut of the fabric along the back is very flattering as well.

I enjoy this dress best in white, but ivory is also available if you shy away from white.

The designer is “Forever Yours” and this dress is a part of the fantasy collection. There are many wedding dresses and most are gorgeous, but this one is my favorite.

in modern cultrue its normal for the dresses to be white, eggshell or ivory. Queen Mary wa sone of the first to wear a white dress to her wedding. At the time, in France white was the color of mourners, I wonder is Mary was trying to make a joke as her husband was the French king. White became the color to wed in after Queen Victoria wed in 1840. Before this a bride would wed in any color, but not black or red.

Irregardless of color, this dress is an outstanding make!

post Digital Photo Frames

August 20th, 2007

I recently came across one of the cooler products I will likely ever see in my generation. Digital picture frames!

Its really superb. You take your photos on a digital camera, so why not display them in a digital photo frame? The picture quality is second to none. Theres a setting for which photo to display to display in your digital picture frame.

Also interesting is the frames capabilty, these devices can play movies, mp3’s, display photos. So your digital picture frame can play your wedding song, while displaying a slideshow of the event!!

I cant think of a better gift than one of these wonderful digital photo frames.

Theres something of a variance with his device just as there is in any item, some cars are just 2 seaters while minivans are  larger, both are automobiles and yet they have much different features, digital photo frames are no different.

Some digital photo frames  can only display JPEG pictures. Orthers support a greater variance in media. Some  can also play movies recorded in the digital camera, MPEG & MP3’s. Some frames can even load pictures over the Internet from RSS feeds,  Flickr and Picasa and even from your e-mail. Networked models usually support wireless. Many  frames display the pictures as a slideshow  with an adjustable time interval.

Most digital photo frames often display the photos directly from a camera’s memory card.

post AT&T Censors Pearl Jam

August 7th, 2007

AT&T censored the popular band Pearl Jam.

At this past Lollapalooza AT&T played a pink floyd song during a song with lyrics that the media giant disagreed with. The Blue Room webcast that showed the concert to many many viewers was obfuscated.

When Pearl Jam was made aware of it, they posted a letter to all of their fans. Its available on their site. Whats more, I agree with them.

Pearl Jam is concerned about soemthing, and that something is media consolidation. SUppose that all the media corporations merge, in a sense, theres just one ISP, one tv station, one radio provider. And they dotn want a message to get to the masses, what then?

Hey as far as I know the constitution is still valid, and the bill of rights is intact…. But they cant sing a song because its not flattering to the white house?  Do i smell the “third reich”? Indeed, no apology, or court settlement can right this wrong. A grave action has occurred, and if you are remotely aware of it, then you shoudl be worried, very concerned.

Suppose theres no net nuetrality? Then your emails just get lost… They remove your ability to communicate, or edit your communications to serve their needs. I think the possibilities are great, and worse, just frightening. AT&T is a big player in global communications, and i think their actions are completely appalling and grievous.

Pearl Jam is referring to the event as a “wake up call.” I am inclined to agree.

post Times Sqaure (New Years)

It’s a common thing for New Yorkers that want to go to Times Square to watch the festivities involving New Year’s Eve.  If you are one of those people you should probably think ahead and plan on certain things that you may not consider when previously conceiving the idea to go to Times Square from your state.  If you’d rather see in person than watch it on TV one of things you can want to do is make sure you wear layers of clothing in order to stay warm during the lengthy time you’ll spend outside in January.

Also allow you one have good standing shoes that are comfortable on because you’ll be standing for a long time. you should probably consider a folding chair to bring along.  If you have no friends bring a magazine if you have friends at private good idea to bring them keep you company in an celebrate the new year.  You should consider something with an interior pocket as opposed to having them on your pants in the event that you would get pickpocketed.  My personal suggestion would be to also bring a camera and if you’re inclined take pictures of the event.  You’ll want to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally to be surrounded by loud drunken people.  I would not drink a lot a liquid prior to going to Times Square to to the fact you have to use their disgusting Porta Johns and then attempt to fight your  way back to the position which you may or may not have been taken by the crowd.  There would be beverages available at various vending stations in the area, but they would be very expensive and not worth the money.  And bear in mind you’re going to have to go to Times Square to reserve your spot.  At least 10 hours in advance due to the popularity of the event but the excitement and fun it will be yours.  When a thousand people yell happy new year after counting down and make it worth all the hassle and you will gain a lot of interesting stories to tell your friends and years to come

post Eyebrows

The eyebrows do serve a  function.  Eyebrows function to keep sweat and rainwater out of your eyes.  While this is not important anymore, in primitive times they were very important, for  the human was escaping a predator perhaps they start sweating, that salty water in the eyes would blind them and make them food  for whatever was chasing them. Eyebrows still plays an important role in our culture because they’re useful for communicating nonverbal expression and women seem to enjoy plucking and pruning them to convey themselves to be more beautiful.  Younger people tend to pierce eyebrows, but even with all these things, they still function to wick water from  the eyes  to the sides of the face.  You might consider them the eyes’ is umbrellas.

post Must See Items in NYC

June 8th, 2007

1. The Blue Man Group for sure! They are over at the Astor Place theater. Even if you are a dance music fan, you will LOVE this show! A trio a blue guys who dont speak, catching objects in their mouth and playing the strangest instruments, they really get the crowd involved! Great time! Very fun.

2. Avenue Q. Check them out over at the Golden Theater. Quite a bit different from the Blue Man Group. Its alot like broadway, but with muppets singing satyrical songs.

3. Whitney Museum,
Rudolph Stingels’ work is currently being displayed, and should not be missed

4. Pace/MacGill Gallery is currently exhibiting some world renowned  photographs  from many famous collections/

5.Chelsea Market: A fantastic place to catch an inexpensive breakfast or lunch, it boasts some fabulous bakeries to boot!

**JoJo is definately my fave eatery in the whole city. It’s not as stylish as some other places, but they are awesome. The food and service are top of the line, every time. It’s a  converted townhome over on the Upper East Side.

post Natural Hair Dyes

May 23rd, 2007

Theres a natural ingredient in black tea that makes it something like a dye. If you want highlights, a bunch of shine, and yet still darken you hair, this mya be something worth trying for you. Just brew 2 strong cups of black tea, and just use it to rinse the shampoo out of you hair  after you wash it. Careful! Very strong black tea could stain your skin a bit.

Alone, Black tea isnt terribly effective for dye jobs, theres a few  other ingredients needed for it to be truly effective. These other ingredients have a great side effect, they make your hair thicker, prevents fall out, and your hair will grow faster!!

Perhaps you wanna try it:

~~ A cup of Black Henna

~~ 2 cups of plain yogurt

~~ 10 black tea teabags
~~ a cup of water
**a cup of water
Soak the teabags in plain water, til the brew is very strong. Then simply use this water to mix up the henna and yogurt together. Apply to hair, cover, and let it sit in your hair for 6-8 hours. Wash your hair normally, and you will see the dramatic and wonderful change.

Since henne coats and seals the hair shaft, it actualy protects your hair. Doing this 2 times a week or so and your hair will be noticeably healthier. I
