Canada has an excess of personal freedom. Its now more than just “America’s Asshat”. In fact they celebrate World Breastfeeding Week with quite a flourish.

There are breats everywhere, 200 moms sitting in a mall in Ottawa waiting to whip out a breat and feed the babies together. Its a contest to see which city can have the most moms breastfeeding at the same time.

The women do this to promote breastfeeding and to remove the fear some women have of doing it publicly. This si the 5th year the competition has taken place.

This year 219 were registered, but only 198 babies “latched”.

Breastfeeding is important for babies because it significantly boosts their immune system and fights infections. It is recommended that babies breastfeed for six months and then also through 2 years of age. And emotionally they say its good for the baby.
