10 Killed in Blast

At least 10 people, of which were women and children, were killed in mortar explosions directed at a US military base in the eastern portion of Afghanistan.
The devastation hit a residential portion near the base in the Chawki area of the Kunar province, very close to the Pakistan border.
Taliban troops have been conducting an bloody campaign that gets worse every day against Afghan and western troops in the nation, with nearly 4,000 people, mostly insurgents, murdered this year alone.
Majority of the violence has been in the south and the east where the Taliban have always been strong. The president of Pakistan has come under pressure to prevent the insurgents from crossing the borders.
A suicide bomber in a truck targeting a group of German troops blew himself up at the gates of Kabul International airport, killing two Afghan troops and wounding 10 more.
