Dubai announced Saturday it now has the world’s tallest building. The Dubai Tower is 1,680 feet tall and is on schedule to be  completed a year before it was scheduled to.

The Dubai Tower interestingly is built by Sumsung, and is 141 stories tall. The developer claims that the finished building will exceed 2296 feet, and more than 160 floors. The building was designed by Adrian Smith of Chicago.

One of the Dubai Towers big competitors int he tower competiton is just 30 miles away. “Al Burj”’s size is also a secret  but the estimated height will likely be about 3,937 feet, and more than 200 stories.

Another possible competitor, would be the Murjan Tower. Its planned for Bahrain. The blueprints call for a 3,353 foot tall structure, containing 200 stories.

My comment is when is it too tall? Perhaps it stems from a fear of heights but, if i was 200 plus stories up and it got stormy… thats just damn scary. I live on the 47 th floor for a time, and i would leave every time the weather was due to go bad.
